Separate Workshop

Classy brand,
goes fast.

Brand design for Separate Workshop

Separate Workshop do one thing, and they do it damn well. Porsches. Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, they are responsible for keeping the pride and joy intact for Canterbury’s air-cooled aficionados.

With a real wealth of historical reference to work from, we were in graphic heaven in the early days of this project. The trick was in editing it all down to a succinct expression that suited the small workshop perfectly.

For the primary wordmark, we settled on a hand-made feel, echoing the maintenance approach that a lot of these vintage cars require.

Our secondary mark, the stacked stripes monogram, brings in more structure, and dynamic movement.

The colour palette is a rich mix of tones,  sourced from the paint codes of some classic Porsche colours. The wide range allows us to play with tonal qualities, while staying rooted in that heritage space.

A mixture of typefaces adds plenty of flavour to the brand, as does the inclusion of various striped and slashed graphics. Both of these elements are splashed loudly across the applications.
